Today I visited the Arnolfini for the first time since it’s ‘make over’. I haven’t been there or indeed to that area of Bristol in a while so it was nice to just go and have a look around. The BIG exhibition at the moment is called ‘Pale Carnage’. It’s there untill the 15th of April and covers three galleries. It features twelve different artists, a lot of the work was very interesting, although I ‘m not sure that I understood it. Although I think my favourite piece was Tom Burr’s White Bulletin Board, which showed details of houses and churches in the typical (American) New England style. The Arnolfini has two other exhibitions on at the moment; the first is in gallery one and is called ‘Recording Iraq’. Which is there untill the 1st of April. The second and I have to say my favourite was called Henri Gaudier-Brzeska. Which featured the works of an artist whom died in the First World War. This was my favourite exhibition of the three that they have on at the moment, but I have always been a fan of fine art (possibly because I’m jealous) This exhibtion is there until the 15th of April. I recommend that you go and check it out, even if modern art isn’t really your ‘thing’ the Arnolfini is still a really cool place to hang out. It’s got a bar and a book shop both are well stocked, one with drink the other with a fanatastic range of art books. What more could you ask for? Well if film was the answer to that question, then you’re in luck because the Arnolfini shows ‘art house’ films, mostly on weekends and in the evenings.
