It's late at night as I walk around Newport, wearing three layers of clothing, a camera and my stop watch. I wonder around aimlessly allowing my open shutter to absorb the journey that I have taken. By doing this I allow my movement and the colourful Christmas lighting to paint the impression of my journey.
Served a diet of fastfood tv I slob out, camera in hand while images flicker in front of me. I randomly snap away at ready-made, ready lit and ready composed images. I shoot in digital, there's no developing, no printing and no mounting. There was no post processing and the images are uncropped.
J.M.Barrie said of fairies that they are so small that they only feel one emotion at a time. That's what I was trying to portray in my fairy photomontages. As for my mermaids Barrie suggested that they were not as they seem. Again I was trying to show this in the images. This project was one of my first attemps at PhotoShop.
While my Mama choses a new lamp I sit on steps and wait. My camera in my hands playing with the shutter speeds to combat bordom. Out of the corner of my eye I notice something a lighting display. I switch to a slow shutter speed and allow my camera to wander through the lights.
